Kenfest 2015:
The Action Janssen LP Release Show and Fundraiser

When Ken Janssen passed away on New Year’s Day 2015, it caught us off-guard, although we all knew it was coming eventually. It was obvious in the days and weeks that followed how much Ken meant to so many people. He left a legacy of friendships that spans the globe. It's still hard to process that he is actually gone.

Stow House Records was created as a response to Ken’s diagnosis. Starting a record label was a way for him to continue promoting Northeastern Ohio music as he had done from his days in Burton, to Kent, and finally Cleveland.

This year, we are turning the spotlight on Ken to pay tribute to his musical legacy one last time.

The Action Janssen LP is a collection of outtakes and unreleased recordings by The It Men, The Hot Rails, and The Vista Cruisers. These songs primarily feature Ken Janssen on lead vocals. The album also includes the final recordings of The It Men, with Fred Gunn of Hiram-Maxim taking over vocal duties due to Ken’s illness.

Funds raised via the Gotta Groove campaign will cover manufacturing costs for the album, and additional money raised will go toward tuition fees for Ken’s nurse, Megan Jones.

In true rock ’n’ roll fashion, Ken passed away shortly after midnight on New Year ’s Day 2015.

Ken was a huge influence on many of our lives. He taught us to live every moment as if it were our last, and never give up on our love for music. He wanted this label to be his legacy. We will do our damnedest to make him proud.

We love you Ken!
